1. Atlantis Dunes, Western Cape

2. Alexandria Coastal Dunes, Eastern Cape

Part of the Addo Elephant National Park, the Alexandria Coastal Dunes are some of the largest and least disturbed dune fields in South Africa. Reachable by trail, the dune field spans approximately 15,800 hectares, stretching 60 km in length and reaching up to 5 km in width. Its tallest dune rises 140 meters. This ever-changing system is shaped by constant sand movement, with around 375,000 cubic tons of sand deposited annually, gradually shifting and building up inland.

3. Red Dunes of Witsand, Northern Cape
