Brave zebra fights off hungry lions in epic safari showdown

Posted on 21 February 2025

One can only imagine how it feels to be at the bottom of the food chain in the wild. The “Uber eats” of the wild. Lions ambushed a lone zebra but if he was going down, he was going down kicking and screaming. Bruce Lee would be proud.

An outnumbered zebra in the wild

The poor zebra somehow found itself isolated—which never bodes well in the wild—and before he knew it, a pride of lions was on his back. They were hungry, too. Palmways posted this incredible sighting on TikTok which has over 2.8 million views at the time of publishing.

In a miraculous feat of survival, the lone zebra desperately kicks out at the lions, jugging and weaving its way out of their jaws to escape.

How do lions hunt down their prey

According to Kruger Park’s wildlife facts, lions hunt either alone or in prides. In collaborative hunts, it is usually the lioness who initiates the kill. ‘Lions stalk their prey and, when close enough, attempt a short charge on their prey, trying either to pounce on their target or knock it over.’
