As reported by African Travel & Tourism Association, this is aimed at managing the influx of visitors, as well as to ensure a smoother overall experience.
Under this system, entry is organized into designated time slots: 06:00–08:00, 08:00–10:00, and 10:00 onwards. All guests must pre-book their entry, as access without a reservation will not be allowed.

Moreover, travel agents are encouraged to modify itineraries accordingly and to communicate with clients regarding the importance of mandatory pre-booking.
Agents should also ensure that travellers are informed about the stricter enforcement measures in place during this peak season. These include speed limits, regulations regarding after-hours travel and requirements for vehicle documentation.
SANParks has further urged tourists not to remove ‘No Entry’ signs as their actions can pose danger to others. Additionally, visitors are advised to consult camp and gate receptions for any updated information on road closures.
This decision to introduce gate quotas aligns with a broader trend towards sustainable visitor management in African parks, with the goal of enhancing both conservation efforts and the overall experience for guests.
