The mid-range Coin de Mire Attitude’s appeal is easy to pinpoint: It’s affordable, low-key, and located across the street from a lovely beach with clear views of Coin de Mire island. Set in a beautiful garden, the property has two pools, a poolside bar, and an open, airy buffet restaurant that serves all meals. Its 102 rooms are split in style between dated Superior Rooms and the sleeker Deluxe and Deluxe Family Rooms, but all units have minibars, safes, and nicely furnished balconies or terraces. Coin de Mire is closing for three months in 2017 for renovations; when the resort reopens in the fall, its room count will be up to 120. Travelers in want of a more central — and beachfront — location could try Merville Beach Hotel in Grand Baie, though rooms haven’t been renovated in recent years.
