The highly anticipated Woolworths X TRI powered by Imperial Gauteng is relocating from Buffelspoort in the North West to the exciting new location of Prime View in Midrand. This move brings the action and fun even closer to the people of Johannesburg and Pretoria for a festival of fitness and fun.
Sam Ngumeni, Chair of the WW Trust, said ‘Buffelspoort was a great venue, and the event was a huge success last year, but this move brings the event closer to the heart of Johannesburg and Pretoria, creating new opportunities for participants to challenge themselves and celebrate their accomplishments.’
The events
Scheduled to take place on 10 September 2023, WW X TRI powered by Imperial Gauteng promises an exhilarating off-road triathlon and trail running experience for participants and spectators alike.
The event features a range of challenging races, including:
- X TRI FULL: 1 km swim, 27 km MTB ride, 10 km trail run
- X TRI Lite: 400 m swim, 12 km MTB ride, 5 km off-road run
- RUN 4 FUN: 10 km run
- RUN 4 FUN Lite: 5 km run
- WALK 4 GOOD: 3 km walk
Prime View is the perfect destination for an off-road triathlon and trail running event. With its world-class facilities, exciting trails, and picturesque surroundings, you’re sure to have an unforgettable experience. The venue is known for its warm hospitality and picturesque surroundings, and while the swim will take place in a dam (as at Buffelspoort), the mountain bike and trail running legs of the event feature spectacular trails that industry experts and innovators have carefully curated.
The MTB Marathon trails range in distance up to 60km and are designed to be fast and rideable, yet offer a solid challenge with an average elevation gain of 10 meters for every 1 km. There is also a 10 km Cross Country Single Track Technical Trail, which includes various obstacles and some fun berms strategically placed along the route. The various X TRI routes will combine the marathon and XCO courses. Prime View’s running trails include a 5 km route and an extended 11.3 km path.
In addition, food options at Prime View cater to every taste, with a cafe for quick and convenient takeaways and a family-oriented restaurant for more formal meals.
