Tintswalo’s Family Camp in the Welgevonden Game Reserve in the Waterberg, is one of those special places where you can disconnect from everyday life and reconnect with wilderness.
Less than three hours’ drive from Joburg, the camp is available for exclusive-use for groups of between 10 and 16 guests. It’s ideal for multi-generational families or friends spending time together in nature. The area is malaria-free and the camp welcomes children of all ages.
Spreading across 40 000 hectares of pristine bushveld, Welgevonden is one of South Africa’s largest private game reserves and boasts a great variety of game. This includes the Big Five as well as cheetah among its 50 animal and 300 bird species. Guests might encounter nocturnal species such as the elusive brown hyena, bush pig, aardvark, pangolin and porcupine.
The camp is laid out with five spacious, freestanding luxury accommodation units positioned on either side of the main lodge and communal living area. Each comes with a veranda overlooking the wilderness and all creature comforts, including romantic mosquito nets, indoor and outdoor showers, fireplaces, ceiling fans and air-conditioning.
The rate includes all meals, two daily guided safari activities, as well as laundry and Wi-Fi. Three meals a day feature traditional South African dishes served in various locations around the lodge.
