Does it ever happen to you where you feel like doing something different and adventurous but have no idea what to do?
This list is for those in Pretoria who have those days, with ten adventurous things you can do in and around the capital city.
1. Acrobranch, Garsfontein
If you like jumping from tree to tree like Tarzan, or you feel like challenging your fear of heights, Acrobranch has your name written all over it. Your guide will ensure you are strapped in safely, know the rules, and make it through the obstacles while having fun.
2. Abseiling, Adventure Zone Cullinan
Swing from the highest heights with Adventure Zone Cullinan. The company offers a three-hour abseiling adventure with beautiful scenery below you. Bring your takkies, hat, and suncream, and Adventure Zone will supply all your protective gear.
3. Horse riding by the Voortrekker Monument
If there’s one thing to add to your bucket list of Pretoria adventures, it should be horse riding at the Voortrekker Monument. Whether you’re an avid horse rider or a complete newbie, you’ll love the perspective of the monument from horseback, being outside beneath the sun, and getting to know your noble steed.
4. Hennops Hiking Trail
Whether you want a quick and easy 2 km walk or a more challenging 10 km hike, Hennops Hiking Trail is practically on your doorstep. Walk across suspension bridges, up hills, along the river, and beneath indigenous trees while enjoying the great outdoors.

5. Tandem Skydiving, Wonderboom Airport
What sounds more exciting than hopping out of an airplane and plummeting to earth? Of course, you’ll be strapped to a parachute, and another person who will ensure that the parachute is utilised correctly. With Sky Dive Pretoria, all adrenaline junkies can try out this incredible activity from the Wonderboom Airport.
6. Bungee Jump, Soweto Towers
If you would prefer to jump without a parachute, Soweto Towers offers an epic bungee jumping experience. Do it as a group or take yourself on a heart-racing adventure. You don’t need to book beforehand, so pitch up, strap up, and bungee jump!
7. Jet Ski, Hartebeespoort
Zoom across the water on a jet ski at the Harties Watersports Centre. A licensed instructor will ensure you know all safety guidelines and protocols before you slip on a life vest and feel the air and water spray on your skin.
8. White water rafting, Lanseria
If you’d prefer a more relaxed water-based experience, why not try out white water rafting on the Juksei River near Lanseria? Tackle Level One and Two (and sometimes even Three and Four) grade rapids, lazily float on the calmer parts of the river, and enjoy a cliff dive into the deep pools of water below – with your guide’s permission.
9. Bouldering, Bronkhorspruit
If you’re not the ‘jumping-into-thin-air’ type, bouldering might be your best adventure. The Bronkies’ crag is the most popular one in Gauteng, as it offers great climbing year-round and is easy to access. You must bring a rock-climbing friend if you do not have the necessary climbing gear or are a novice.
10. Go-Karting, Pretoria East
Test your driving and racing skills at the Indy Kart indoor track at Parkview Shopping Centre. The course offers technical corners for more advanced Go-Karters, but the tracks are wide enough to help out beginners.
