A large population
Egypt is the third-highest populated country on the African continent. Over 110,000,000 people call Egypt their home. The only two African countries which are more populated than Egypt are Ethiopia and Nigeria.
A river that goes on and on
Egypt is also home to the Nile River, which is known as the longest river in the world. It measures around 6,695km and runs north through a large portion of East Africa.
UNESCO World Heritage Sites
In Egypt, there are a total of seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites. These are Abu Mena Heritage Site, Historic Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, the Necropolis of Thebes, the Nubian Monuments (home to the Abu Simbel temple), the Saint Catherine Area, as well as Whale Valley. The pyramids were not built by slaves
Building the great Egyptian pyramids took more than 100,000 people. But, who exactly were those people? Experts believe that the pyramids were built by paid labourers and not slaves. However, ancient Egyptians are indeed believed to have kept slaves. They mainly worked in the fields and fulfilled domestic tasks.
