Gouritsmond’s history stretches back to the 1700s when it grew from a small fishing settlement to a charming town established in 1915. Until 1983, a gravel road with 25 gates limited access to the town, but the construction of a tar road made it more accessible.

Birdwatchers will find paradise in Gouritsmond, where over 240 bird species thrive. The town has also become a sought-after coastal wedding destination, with venues like Gourikwa Nature Reserve and Casa da Baleia offering spectacular settings for special celebrations. With its laid-back, off-the-beaten-path vibe, Gouritsmond provides the ideal escape for those seeking both peace and adventure in the Garden Route.
