South Africa truly is an incredibly beautiful place. With 19 national parks in the country, it’s impossible to choose a favourite and the dream would be to visit them all. Each one has something special about it, and each one is glorious in its own unique way.
South African National Parks (SANParks) covers a total area of just over 4 million hectares throughout the country, comprising 67% of the protected areas under state management. ‘The SANParks of today is recognised as a world leader in conservation and protected area management. In the last two decades, seven new national parks have been established, totalling over 700,000 hectares, with much of this being in the under conserved biomes such as the Succulent Karoo and Fynbos,’ their website reads.
We decided to put together some of the most spectacular wildlife and nature pictures taken in eight popular national parks across the country for your viewing pleasure. Let’s continue to marvel at, appreciate and protect our country’s rich and beautifully diverse ecosystems.
