Are you looking to make the most out of your trip to Malmesbury? Here are a few activities and attractions to include on your getaway.

Go wine-tasting

One of the big perks of staying in Malmesbury is the wineries in close proximity, which makes getting back to your accommodation after a successful wine-tasting experience much easier

If you’re looking for fine wine with picturesque scenery to toast the day away, Swartland Winery is the place to be. A mere 3km outside of the town, you’ll have the chance to enjoy the rolling green hills of this vineyard and enjoy their famous makes.

The Malmesbury Golf Club is a great way to unwind and relax while doing something active. Established in 1960, this renowned club has finely manicured lawns and stunning views of the Paardebeg Mountains to marvel at. Be sure to enjoy a drink or two at the Halfway House Restaurant to end the day off right.

Visit the Malmesbury Museum

Within a stunning church-like structure, various hidden gems and artefacts lie waiting to be discovered. What once was a Jewish synagogue has been transformed into a place of remembrance, not only of Malmesbury’s history but also of how the Jewish community formed part of it. From kitchen supplies dating back to the 1920s to vintage dentistry tools, the displays allow you to step back in time.

Walk around the Village Market nearby

While not technically in Malmesbury, the Village Market in the nearby town Riebeek West is a must if you’re looking for a tranquil yet engaging activity. Only a 20-minute drive from Malmesbury, you’ll happen at this event every first Saturday of the month.

With local crafts to purchase and handmade treats to nibble and enjoy, this charming event will soon recharge and revitalise you. You’ll feel like you travelled back in time to simpler times, as knife sharpening stations and live music give it almost a medieval essence. You’ll also be able to chat with the locals and learn about their products and chosen trade, which is an educational experience in itself.
