Koh Kradan, Thailand

While Thailand’s beaches are famous for their beauty, most of the well-known spots—think Phuket and Koh Phi Phi—are packed year-round. Enter Koh Kradan, a tiny, under-the-radar island in the Andaman Sea. This secluded paradise is part of Hat Chao Mai National Park, meaning there’s minimal development and maximum tranquillity. There are no cars, no crowds—just crystal-clear waters and soft, powdery sand. Snorkelling here is next-level, with vibrant coral reefs just a few meters from the shore.

Ghajn Tuffieha, Malta

Malta’s beaches are often overshadowed by its historic sites and bustling cities, but Ghajn Tuffieha is a true hidden gem. Nestled between cliffs on the island’s northwest coast, this golden-sand bay is less touristy than Malta’s famous Blue Lagoon and offers some of the best sunsets on the island. A short but scenic hike down a winding path leads you to this untouched paradise, where the water is warm and crystal clear. Unlike some of Malta’s more popular beaches, Ghajn Tuffieha has minimal development, so you can enjoy a quiet, laid-back atmosphere.

Playa Carrizalillo, Mexico

If you’ve heard of Puerto Escondido, chances are you associate it with huge waves and hardcore surfers. But just a short walk from the town’s main drag lies Playa Carrizalillo, a sheltered bay with golden sand and calm turquoise waters. The catch? You must tackle a steep staircase of around 150 steps to reach it. It’s worth the effort, though—this hidden gem is perfect for swimming, paddleboarding, and beginner-friendly surfing, without the party crowd that dominates nearby beaches.

Île aux Nattes, Madagascar

Tucked just off the southeast coast of Madagascar, Île aux Nattes is the definition of an untouched paradise. No cars, no roads—just endless stretches of palm-fringed beaches, warm waters, and a few rustic bungalows scattered along the shore. It’s a great alternative to more crowded Indian Ocean destinations like the Maldives or Seychelles, and it comes without the luxury price tag. The island is best explored on foot, by kayak, or via a traditional pirogue (a wooden canoe).

Cirali Beach, Turkey

Located just an hour from Antalya, Cirali Beach is a hidden treasure along Turkey’s Mediterranean coast. Surrounded by rugged mountains and ancient ruins, this 2.5-kilometer stretch of golden sand is refreshingly undeveloped, thanks to its status as a protected nesting site for endangered loggerhead turtles. It’s a fantastic alternative to the more commercialized beaches of the Turkish Riviera. Plus, the nearby ruins of Olympos offer a fascinating glimpse into ancient history, making it a perfect mix of relaxation and adventure.

Portugal’s Algarve is famous for its dramatic cliffs and golden beaches, but Praia do Amado remains relatively off the radar. Popular with surfers but spacious enough for solitude-seekers, this wild and rugged beach is known for its untouched beauty and laid-back atmosphere. Since it’s part of a protected nature reserve, there are no high-rise resorts or flashy tourist traps—just unspoiled coastline, rolling dunes, and breathtaking sunsets.
