An old worker’s cottage in the Jonkershoek plantation near Stellenbosch has been converted into an overnight accommodation at the foot of the Jonkershoek mountains and on the doorstep of mountain bike trails.
This is an expanded offering of MTO trails, which has made a name for itself for its mountain biking trails. The old worker’s shelter has been completely overhauled with an open-plan kitchen, fireplace and room for six guests.
The cottage has bikers in mind with a lockable bike shed and wash bay. Conveniently located at the entrance to Jonkershoek trail, and next door to Balance Roastery and coffee shop where the smell of coffee will greet guests as they wake up.
The Jonkershoek Valley cottage can be booked through MTO Trails for R2 400 per night. There is a minimum requirement of a two-night booking and the children’s rate is available on request.
In addition to the trails on offer and comfortable lodging, the area is home to abundant birdlife and wildlife that include Cape leopards, caracals, klipspringer, honey badgers, mongooses and baboons.
