The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a severe weather warning for Monday, January 4 for the Namakwa District of the Northern Cape, the Central Karoo District of the Western Cape and for interior parts of the Eastern Cape.
In a statement SAWS said a yellow (Level 2) warning has been issued for these parts, which includes thunderstorms with possible localised flooding and damage to infrastructure, property and livestock.
‘Heat wave of persistently high temperatures is expected over the southern Cape Winelands District and Worcester in the Western Cape until Monday,’ said SAWS.
