- The Etihad Airways Arabian buffet in Abu Dhabi is really good and they serve a mean curry (veg and non-veg) at all times of the day – even if you’re there at 2am, you can still grab a hearty bite.
- We also like the SAS lounge in Copenhagen. The buffet is not massive but it’s always very fresh with steaming homemade soup, a Scandinavian-style salad and dark rye bread to go with it.
- The John Pawson design at the Cathay Pacific lounge in Hong Kong Airport is great and the food is very good (and fresh) too.
- British Airways have also come up with a great concept in Toronto. With their red-eye flight to London, where people don’t tend to eat on the plane but sleep instead, they offer a very good lounge option before the flight. A chef cooks several different dishes to order, from wok to salads, light to substantial, so you can eat well before you fly and sleep right away once onboard.
- We were charmed by the Frankfurter sausages, authentic German Senf and big pints of Weissbier in the Lufthansa Senator’s Lounge in Frankfurt.
- Monocle votes the curry dish from JAL lounge in Tokyo as the best airport food ever. We’ve tried it and it is indeed a great curry – Japanese style of course!
