What can I say? The braais are just getting better and better. Graaff-Reinet was fantastic and I wouldn’t want to take anything away from our good times there, but when you rock up in Knysna to find 200 oysters shelled and waiting, deboned joints of lamb and delicious ribs glazing on the fire, an abundance of exotic-looking salad, complimentary Mitchell’s Beer on tap and all this set up on a beautiful spot, right on the heads that you never knew existed, it’s tough not to feel that you’ve reached the pinnacle of braaing and it’s all going to be downhill from here.
Even Jan’s monumental hangover (“It feels like a pack of white dogs are barking in my head”), couldn’t keep the smile off his face when we arrived.

I ate more oysters than I’ve ever eaten in total in my life (don’t be sad for me) and followed it up with some awesome salad (it will forever thrill me to see a good salad at a braai) and a plate full of fire-roasted lamb, peach-boerie and perfectly braaied ribs.
Good times. Thank-you Ivo and thank-you Knysna. This is going to be a tough braai to beat.
