We all happen across them from time to time. Little pockets of humour spread all over the countryside. It doesn’t matter whether it is in a remote little village or on your everyday travels; a funny sign, whether intentional or not, can often make your journey memorable – or at the very least, liven up your day.

The following funny signs were sent in over the past week by our readers:
Liz Lewis was travelling through Messina last year and saw this rather amusing advertisement. I wonder how many husbands are belligerent about leaving when their wives eventually come to fetch them? Actually, I wonder how many wives just never return?
Craig Lewthwaite came across this sign while taking a toilet break in the Klein Karoo last year. Talk about getting you whilst your guard is down!
Gerhard Vogel came across this ambiguous sign on the way from Rundu to Katima Mulilo in Namibia. My suggestion would be to do absolutely nothing. At least we can assume that it didn’t mean no photography…
Brad Keiser and his wife were travelling through Mangochi, Malawi when they came across this business name. Which came first? The shop name or the complaints?
Kathy Sjoblom took this picture on a trip up a dirt road between Stutterheim & Thomas River. I get that the dentures are removed to prevent them cracking and possibly to nullify the potential clacking. But the hearing aids? Is it so that you can’t hear the other people complaining as you bolt across the bad turf?
Terence Venter spotted this sign at a pub near the mouth of the Swakop River at Swakopmund in Namibia. It really serves it purpose well though as I know for a fact I would have done the usual, “I’m sure we can make it…” in my little Corsa. This may have deterred me… then again, it may have encouraged me too.
Josie Field found this interesting sign somewhere in Fort Nottingham, KZN. It really raises some questions. Like surely they would eventually only have bad babies/ladies after swapping out all the good ones?
Des Featherstone didn’t let up where she discovered this but did admit that it was not so much funny as it was cute. I would agree but do have one question – How do you know if and when there is an actual chameleon crossing?
Nick Evans recently went to St. Lucias Crocodile centre and saw this sign by a ramp! Now I’m no expert but that looks like one heck of a way to go!
Pop in again next week for another dose of funny. Alternatively, if you think you have happened upon a sign worthy of this space please email it to [email protected].
