Things to consider when buying binoculars
Magnification is indicted by the first number in the specs. For example in 10×42, the 10x means images appear up to 10 times closer than normal. A magnification strength of 10 is a good for watching birds and game in nature reserves.
The next number (42 in the example above) indicates the diameter and how much light is allowed in. The higher the number, the more light, but the heavier the binos. Anything above 40 is good for stargazing and lets in enough light at dawn and dusk.
Twist-up eye cups are more comfortable, especially if you wear glasses.
Check the prism type: roof prisms are expensive, but are lightweight and compact, making them best for travel.
