The problem with digital photography (there are few) is you’re less likely to print out your beautiful travel snaps – unless you’ve got the Fujifilm Instax Mini 8.
This funky little camera prints out business card-sized snaps instantly and you can watch as the pictures develop after about two minutes – it’s basically real-life Instagram.
The Fujifilm Instax is incredibly easy to use – you just pop out the lens, flash up a scene and print out the picture. Before testing this camera, I didn’t truly know instant gratification.
This mean instant-print machine is a must to bring along for travels – you can gather memories for scrapbooks or travel journals and hand them out to people you meet along the way.
For professional travel photographers, using the Instax Mini is a beautiful way to say thank you to people who pose for portraits too. Otherwise, the kids will go ape if they had their own.
Technically speaking, the camera performs well with five different settings (indoor, outdoor, cloudy, bright sunshine and high ISO) and a fixed flash always lights up the scene. The battery life is great too – although, you probably won’t be snapping away too madly at about R10 a photo.
Costs R 899
Christmas special: the cartridges are free, but usually cost R100 for a pack of 10.
