Masks are bound to fog up. Spitting onto the glass works, but can lead to fungi build-up (clean the mask well when you get home). Sea Gold’s anti-fog gel contains an anti-fungal agent and will last ages. Rub the gel onto the inside of the glass and rinse thoroughly. Put the mask on immediately and don’t take it off too often.

They might make you look like a kraken sea monster, but these comfortable webbed Darkfin gloves are a useful addition to your kit, or at the very least a comical talking point. They won’t make you a better swimmer, but will you give extra power under- water – just make sure they’re the right size and a tight fit.
