Rain won’t dampen the fun at Killarney Power Series this June

Round 4 of the 2022 Power Series presented by Wingfield Motors at Killarney is on Saturday 4 June, less than three weeks before midwinter, which means there’s a good chance of rain on the day. But that won’t stop the racing or dampen the spirits of the competitors, although it will make the results all the more unpredictable.

Killarney has a wide choice of covered vantage points from which to watch the action, one of which is the balcony above the Joubert Pits – right outside the Joubert Pits Lounge, home of some of the finest coffee in Cape Town.

Or, you can warm your hands at the friendly fire on the Clubhouse balcony and enjoy delicious hot food from the Trackside Pub and Grill along with superb views of the fastest corner at Killarney, the double-apex Malmesbury Sweep.

Wrap up warm and get there early for a full programme of races for the headline Thermo Fires Clubmans Saloons, as well as the Alert Engines GTi Challenge and the combined BEJO Trustees Fine Cars and Laude Classic Cars.

Then there is the hugely powerful Pirelli V8 Masters, where all the cars are identical and it’s all down to driver skill and nerve (the AP347is V8s are seriously difficult to drive on a wet circuit) as well as the Spitfire Furniture Sports & GT cars.

But the real heroes are the riders of the South Superbikes/Superbike Challenge/Masters/600s, the Strato Technology Clubman/Classic/Breakfast Run Motorcycles and the Bridgestone Super Twin Cup 650 and SuperSport 300 Motorcycles. You’ll see astonishing feats of riding skill and machine control on an unpredictable service – just don’t ask us to predict the outcome!

Pre-book at Computicket or pay at the gate; Qualifying starts at 8 am and you get a whole day of world-class motor racing on two and four wheels for R80 for adults, R20 for scholars under 16 and free for children under 12; Western Province Motor Club members also get in free on production of their membership books at the gate.

There’s ample parking all around the circuit, so bring your beach umbrella or gazebo, bring your picnic basket and your cooler box, light up your skottelbraai, park next to one of our brick braais, or just pick a spot on one of our shaded grandstands and make the day your own.

There are outlets around the facility serving hot snacks and cold beverages – as well as children’s play areas, including the famous Kiddies’ Korner, the coolest party zone on the West Coast, which is available for hire year-round. On Race Day your kids get to use it absolutely free!

Spectators are free to move around throughout the day; grab a spot on the free shuttle service and watch the action from different vantage points. The pits are always open to spectators, so you can also see the cars and motorcycles up close.

Killarney cares about your health and well-being; wearing a mask is no longer required outdoors, but please remember to wear your mask over your nose and mouth when entering one of our indoor venues and keep a social distancing space of at least one metre between persons at all times.
