- For me, one of the more photogenic animals is the zebra. One early morning in the Imfolozi section of the Hluhluwe Imfolozi Park, I stopped and watched this foal sheltered in front of its mother and saw how the sun was shining on its body. In post processing I increased the shadows using the curves adjustment, and then used the burn tool to darken the background. – By Nobby Clarke, Empangeni. - It was quite late in the afternoon and the light was fading as we came across this pride of lions in the Thornybush Game Reserve in Limpopo. I knew that it had been a while since the pride had fed, and was hoping that hunger would force them to get active before nightfall. One cub had the same idea, and continuously tried to coax the adults into waking up. I thought that this image told the story of lion society well, highlighting their unique habit being social cats. – By Riaan Fourie, Hoedspruit. - I got a tip from a good friend that about 80 to 100 flamingos had made a near empty dam on a dairy farm in Mpumalanga, South Africa, their home for the time being… So, on day one I went to introduce myself to the farmer and to ask his permission to take photographs. - They talk about first time lucky! This was my first time visiting the Boulders Beach and there were lots of people, but I managed to slip through the crowd and take this image from a low angle just as this boat passed by. - I realized there were some interesting bird interactions going on amongst the birds in my garden, so I set out to capture some of it. The ideal spot to capture the action was under a tree, lit by late sunlight. The background was an open space leading into shadowed bush, causing the background to fall into darkness. - I gave the image this name since it portrays all weather conditions: sun, rain, wind and cloud. Now we know the reason behind the name “Cape of Storms”. It was raining, but I could see there was a gap on the horizon and I knew I could catch something amazing so I waited. - I almost did not go out for the shoot due to the massive bank of clouds and the hidden sun… but just after sunset a magical display of colours made me gasp in awe!
