- While staying at Sentinel Mara Camp in Kenya’s Masai Mara, we went on a late afternoon game drive. It was already dusk when we spotted this female leopard. She got up into a tree, looking and calling for her cub. The light was fading fast and I had to crank up the ISO considerably to get a decent picture. – By Martin Oosthuizen, Stellenbosch Canon 1DX, Canon 400mm f/2.8L II, Canon 2.0x II teleconverter, ISO 20 000, f/5.6, 1/800 sec
- I took this photo near Sossusvlei in Namibia. The wind was blowing over the side of this dune and I was fascinated by the effect it was creating on the sand. – By Dirk Theron, Betty’s Bay Nikon D3s, Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3, ISO 200, f/6, 1/400 sec
- I was shooting the 2016 Lipton Cup Challenge from a helicopter in Cape Town. The weather closed in and we couldn’t see the yachts… so I chose to shoot the landscape instead, ending up with this unique image. I later converted it to monochrome for effect. – By Craig Fouché, Worcester Nikon D4 , Nikkor 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6, ISO 1000 , f/16 , 1/1000 sec
- Capturing this moment was incredible… I spotted this chameleon in the desert at Swakopmound, Namibia, and lay flat on the sand to get a low angle. I set my camera onto continuous shooting mode to get this shot. – By Evelyn Gibson, Lyttelton Nikon D500, Nikkor 80-400mm f/4.5-5.6, ISO 1000, f/8, 1/4000 sec
- In Timbavati Private Nature Reserve, we had some interesting moments while watching a hyena den. In this instance, a cub stopped for a moment on the side of a termite mound, giving me the opportunity to capture a backlight image. – By Willem Kruger, Bloemfontein Nikon D4, Nikon 600 mm f/4, ISO 2500, f/4, 1/5000 sec
- This image was taken at Tugela Mouth In Kwa-Zulu Natal on a bright sunny day. A friend of mine, JD Lotz, invited me to the river mouth to take photos of the bee-eaters that feed in the area. This is one of the many images that we managed to take on the day – By Nobby Clarke, Empangeni Canon 7D, Canon 300mm f/2.8 + 2x converter, ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/1250 sec
- I purchased a full-frame camera with the intention of pairing it with my Canon 16-35mm lens to get the maximum potential out of the wide-angle lens. I waited days on end for the high-level clouds that always look so spectacular in sunsets. Weeks passed until one autumn afternoon in June the clouds that I had been waiting for finally appeared. I rushed home and grabbed my camera and tripod and hastily made my way down to the beach and got the most spectacular sunset shots. The end result was well worth the wait. – By Hercules Leonardo Giorgino Canon 6D, Canon 16-35mm f/2.8 LII, ISO 100, f/11, 1/13 Sec
- Taken at the Umgodi overnight hide at Zimanga, KZN. – By Efraim van der Walt, Bloemfontein D810, Nikkor 24-70mm f/2.8, ISO 12 800, f/4.5, 1/125 sec
- I took this photo at the lagoon in Walvis Bay. Nikon D3s, Tamron 150-600mm f/5-6.3, ISO 800, f/6.3, 1/2500 sec – By Dirk Theron, Betty’s Bay
