Whether the shivers down your spine are those of disgust or disbelief, there is no denying the spectacular nature of these macro photos of the creatures we might not glance at twice with the naked eye. The images were taken by photographers at the U.S. Geological Survey’s Bee Inventory and Monitoring Laboratory in Maryland. They can be downloaded from a Flickr page by anyone who might want them. There are hundreds of images on the site to scroll through, but here are some which stood out for me.
