Early morning wake up, coffee and rusks, game drive, breakfast buffet, leave, drive, arrive, look around, lunch, afternoon game drive, dinner buffet, beers, bed, repeat 10 times over. Tough life right!? Well, actually yes. You’d be amazed at how exhausting it is going on assignment for Getaway magazine. Exhausted or not though, when faced with what you see below, I could only sigh slightly smugly.
This, surely, is as good as being at work gets.
These shots were taken in multiple locations in private reserves to the west of Kruger (find accommodation reviews for camps in Kruger here). I was amazed at how habituated the big cats were to the completely open game drive vehicles. Lion, leopard and cheetah alike were almost entirely unconcerned, lying where they lay, just metres away. Look out for the feature 10 Secret Bush Lodges of the Lowveld in the February 2014 issue of Getaway magazine, on shelves 20 January 2014.
