Are you looking for some forest trails in Gauteng to explore? Here are a few walks to consider in order to experience a serene journey in this province’s natural beauty.

Yellow Trail at Kings Kloof

A wonderful trail to take near Krugersdorp, the Yellow Trail in this area is the ultimate walk to take if you’re looking to discover a number of scenic sights along the way. With a river and waterfall on the given trails, you’ll also have the opportunity to dip your toes after a long walk in nature.

While there are a variety of trails to take, the Yellow Route is one of the easiest and shortest trails to conquer. As this walk is around 7 km, you’ll be able to complete this walk in around 70 minutes (depending on your fitness level).

Dogs are unfortunately not allowed on these trails so be sure to keep your furry friends at home. If you’re looking for a drink after your adventure, you can enjoy a drink and snack at the small cafe near the trails.

Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve

If you’re looking to escape the busy streets of Pretoria, the Moreleta Kloof Nature Reserve is the ultimate place to wind down the outdoors. You’ll be able to take a relatively short loop trail on the premises, which has a wide selection of wildlife in its midst.

As the reserve is filled with curious creatures, this environment is popular for exceptional birding opportunities. The routes on this location are also a great spot to enjoy hiking and running. Dogs are not allowed on the premises due to the array of animals, such as duikers and springboks.

Wolwespruit

If you find yourself near Erasmuskloof in Pretoria, Wolwespruit is a great choice if you’re looking to lose yourself in the stunning setting of this lush environment. This park is best for individuals looking to challenge themselves and work on their fitness, as you’ll encounter a number of river crossings and uphill sections to clear.

Ranging from easy 5 km trails to tougher 10 km sections, you’ll be able to choose a path that fits your style. Be sure to bring your wallets, as a day pass to gain access to the trails is R45.
