Jozi to get Museum of Illusions in Rosebank

Posted on 21 June 2024 By Savanna Douglas

Rosebank is set to host South Africa’s first Museum of Illusions, currently under construction.

The Museum of Illusions is part of a global chain, with over 50 locations worldwide, including major cities like Dubai, Paris and New York.

The museum promises a number of exhibits that play tricks on your mind. Visitors can look forward to experiencing rooms where everything seems off balance, spaces where perspectives are flipped, and tunnels that make you feel like you’re spinning. One of the highlights is the Cloning Table, which creates the illusion of being cloned. There’s also the Beuchet Chair, where perspective plays tricks on you.

The museum will also have holograms, optical illusions, and interactive displays to explore, teaching visitors about how remarkable the brain can be.

The concept started in Zagreb, Croatia, in 2015 and has since become a hit, drawing over 12 million visitors worldwide.

Further information on the opening date, exhibits, and operating hours is yet to be announced by the museum.
