I always considered the miniature golf course in Mouille Point/Sea Point a kiddies’ attraction (along with the little blue train and the maze) until I gave it a go recently.
Firstly, it’s only R14 (per player) to play the 18-hole course, and this includes a ball and club, pencil and scorecard. The first few holes are fairly straight forward, but you’ll be surprised at how bad you can be at such a simple game.
At each hole you get five shots to try sink the ball. It’s not as easy as you think, and it’s great fun. The player with the lowest score after 18 holes is the winner. As a bonus, if you score a hole-in-one on the last hole, you get discount on your next round of miniature golf (as if R14 isn’t cheap enough).
It’s fun as an after-Sunday-lunch activity for a group of friends or a family and even as evening entertainment. It’s open daily from 9am to 9pm.
Tips for playing putt putt:
- Wear sunscreen or a hat/cap if you’re playing during the day.
- Playing as a group is fun but try to keep it under six players (it gets a bit tiring waiting for each one to play).
- Bring extra cash in case you’d like to get a drink or snacks.
- Bring a light jacket as the promenade can get chilly at times.
- Have fun!
