The Karoo is a beautiful place for a hike, with its sunny days and star-filled skies. Camdeboo National Park has gorgeous views, wildlife, and three hiking trails that make for a wonderful walk in the Karoo.

1. Eerstefontein Trail
This day walk begins and ends at the Spandaukop Gate with rest spots at the Eerstefontein picnic site and Agtersfontein. You can choose between the 5km, 11 km, or 14 km route, all of which take you past the beautiful landscapes and wildlife.

2. The Crag Lizard Trail
The Crag Lizard Trail begins in the Valley parking lot and takes you past all the viewpoints of the Valley of Desolation. You’ll get to see the impressive rock formations and panoramic views of the Valley as you walk this 1.5 km round trip.
3. Gideon Scheepers Trail
This trail is about an hour’s walk and starts at the Gideon Scheepers Monument. The trail and the monument honour a historical figure who is associated with the Anglo-Boer War.
Entrance into Camdeboo National Park is R52 per person, and there are no additional fees for hiking the trails in the park.
