The West Coast has been compared to the likes of Greece, owing to the light blue water surrounding the quiet fishing villages and white houses engulfed in bougainvillea. Langebaan in particular, is not short of things to do. If you’ve traversed the West Coast National Park from end to end, there’s plenty more to do in town.
Take a look at these fun activities for your next West Coast breakaway, aside from the West Coast National Park.
1. Kayaking
Take to the water in a kayak and explore the pristine Langebaan Lagoon or the icy ocean on a sunny day.
Cost: From R150 p/hour, unguided
Try: Gravity Adventures
2. Kitesurfing
Langebaan is a kiteboarder’s paradise. Experience the thrill of being propelled by Mother Nature and catching a few waves on the open ocean, or glide along the flat surface of the lagoon.
Try Cape Sport Centre, from R850 per private two-hour lesson OR Try Windtown Kiteboarding for a full beginner course, R8,500 per person, 10 hours over four days.

Why not make a day of it by packing a braai, swimwear and your fishing gear? Rent a boat and while away the hours in the classic South African sunshine.
