If you like whimsical places or always wanted to feel part of a cartoon, then Greem Cafe’s aesthetic of white interiors starkly contrasted with furniture outlined in black – blending illusion and reality.
Greem Cafe, also named YND 223-14 after its South Korean address, is the brainchild of the owner Eun-Jin Lee who opened the Seoul cafe in 2017.
Wanting to put the focus on things that matter, people and drinks, Lee chose to make the remaining elements as simple and colourless as possible.
Everything from chairs, tables, and mugs to even the barista machine is pencilled out making for a rather trippy experience. This minimal philosophy extends over to Lee’s business approach, where the Greem Cafe only relies on word-of-mouth recommendations.
It has, however, become a popular spot on social media, with digital junkies wanting to come through to snap a picture, and maybe post their A-ha “Take on me” moment.
The popularity of this cafe has led to three more openings in South Korea and an additional two in the middle east.
Have a look at the whimsical cafe below.
