This hot air balloon safari not only lets you see the vast Serengeti plains from high up in the air, but also lets you marvel at Tanzania passing by through a glass panel right beneath your feet.
Miracle Experience operates Africa’s first glass-bottomed hot air balloon rides. They have seasonal bases in Kirawira (June to October), Kogatende (June to November), Ndutu (December to March) and a permanent base in Seronera (the centre of the Serengeti), operating all year round.
Guests are taken over the Serengeti and Tarangire National Parks where a firm favourite each year is to view the Great Wildebeest Migration.
Hot air balloons usually go anywhere between 1 000 and 3 000 feet (300 to 900m) high for comfortable riding and game viewing.
Their standard safari balloons can accommodate 16 passengers, or couples can choose to book a private (heart-shaped) balloon for a special occasion.
The company makes use of solar-powered e-vehicles in an effort to reduce their carbon footprint. The vehicles also make nearly no sounds, so as not to disturb wildlife.
Packages start from USD 599 (around R8 729) per person for the year-round central Serengeti tour.
