African countries excluded from newly released U.S visa waiver list

A list of countries eligible for the 2025 U.S Visa Waiver Program was released on Monday, the 24th of February.

As reported by The South African, the U.S Visa Waiver Program enables travellers from listed countries to visit the United States visa-free for up to 90 days.

These travellers would still require prior approval through the Electronic System for Travel Authorization (ESTA).

According to Business Insider Africa, a total of forty nations from Europe, Asia and parts of the Middle East are included on the list. However, none of Africa’s 54 countries secured visa-free entry into the U.S.

Although the 2025 list remains largely unchanged, Romania is a new addition. 

The United Kingdom also remains eligible under specific conditions.
