As of the 29th of July, Air Zimbabwe has resumed flights between Harare and Johannesburg. This means that passengers are now able to use the airline to travel from Harare’s Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport to Johannesburg’s OR Tambo International Airport.
The decision to resume flights is part of a larger strategy to maintain momentum in Zimbabwe’s Open Skies Policy, as well as the Open for Business Policy.
According to Travel News, flights along the Harare-Johannesburg route are as follows:
- On Monday, Wednesday and Friday, the Harare flight will depart at 11:30 to arrive in Johannesburg at 13:15. The Johannesburg flight will then depart at 14:00 to land in Harare at 15:30.
- On Sunday, the flight will leave Harare at 14:35 and land at OR Tambo International Airport at 16:20. From Johannesburg, passengers heading to Zimbabwe can then depart at 16:55 with an expected arrival time of 18:40.
The resumed flights are expected to do well for Zimbabwe’s tourism. This is as many South African travellers make their way to the neighbouring country to enjoy various attractions such as Lake Kariba and Victoria Falls.
