Kruger National Park (KNP) announced on 21 February that some camps have been reopened after extensive flooding caused the park to close them.

Both Lower Sabie and Crocodile Bridge have been reopened. In a statement, Oscar Mthimkhulu, KNP managing executive said that they ‘can confirm that water has subsided enough for [them] to safely open the two rest camps. Access to Lower Sabie will be through the Crocodile Bridge gate as the road via Skukuza is still inaccessible. Talamati Bush Camp is also open, and access to the camp will be through Orpen on S140 or from Satara on S36 then S145 from the east.’
There are still several gravel roads as well as Biyamiti Bush Camp and Sable Dam Hide that remain closed. ‘KNP technical Services are busy with assessments to establish the extent of damage caused by the floods.’
Tourists and tour operators visiting KNP are advised not to move any barriers that indicate a road closure.
