Event organizer Mr. Ikechi Uko highlighted Asky Airlines’ consistency in promoting not only West Africa but the entire African continent as a key factor in their selection for the award. The annual Accraweizo conference celebrates excellence in West African travel and tourism.
Accepting the award on behalf of Asky Airlines, Managing Director Mr. Esayas WoldeMaria expressed his delight at the recognition. He emphasized that the award would motivate the airline to continue improving its services for customers and acknowledged the event’s organizers for their efforts in promoting travel within West Africa and across the continent.
‘We are delighted to have won this award as the ‘Best African Airline 2023’ in West Africa. The award means a lot to us. I would like to sincerely express my gratitude to each one of our customers for their confidence in our services,’ said WoldeMaria.
Asky Airlines, a private multinational passenger airline, serves West and Central Africa with its head office in Lomé, Togo, and its hub at Gnassingbé Eyadéma International Airport. The airline is a strategic partner of Ethiopian Airlines and has maintained profitability since 2017. Its fleet comprises approximately 15 aircraft with an average age of 11.2 years.
The airline’s shareholders include Ethiopian Airlines (40 percent), Ecobank, BIDC, BOAD, Sakhumnotho Group Holding, and other West and Central African private investors, with the Togolese government holding a minority stake of 14.39 percent.
