The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) clarified on Wednesday that the few restricted areas of the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve will not affected visitors’ access to the rest of the reserve’s attractions or the Swadini resorts.

The limited access due to filming set to take place at the reserve early next year will only restrict access to the waterfall and affect closure of the Swadini paypoint gate for a limited period.
The periods of no access to the waterfall remain the same:
- 29 October 2018 – 3 January 2019
- 19 February 2019 – 28 February 2019
The limited Swadini restriction period was also also clarified and shortened, with no access to the Swadini paypoint gate between 4 January 2019 and 18 February 2019.
The MTPA wished to assure prospective visitors that the filming would not affect access to the Swadini Forever Resorts, nor hinder that experience in any way.
They maintained that all the Blyde River Canyon Nature Reserve attractions would still be accessible: Pinnacle Rock, God’s Window, the Three Rondavels and the Bourke’s Luck Potholes.
Only the Visitor’s Centre, however, won’t be accessible between those closure periods.
