Cape Town International Airport currently only has enough jet fuel to last between four and six days after bad weather delayed a shipment.
Airports Company SA (ACSA) has since issued a ‘Notice to Airmen’ requesting airlines to reduce their fuel intake in Cape Town, regional general manager of the airport, Mark Maclean, was reported as saying
‘Various fuel suppliers are also holding stock in their tanks and will deliver additional [jet fuel] to the airport,’ he said. ‘Contingency plans are underway and it is business as usual across our airports including Cape Town international airport.’
ACSA has urged passengers not to worry about limited fuel supply at Cape Town airport, commenting that no flights will be affected.
