The Mother City has been named the best city in the world for 2025 by global travel magazine Time Out.
Both the City and Cape Tourism expressed pride at this accolade, which has seen Cape Town climb to the top of the global list from second place last year.

As reported by IOL, the annual ranking was produced after 18 500 city-dwellers were surveyed worldwide, with input from a panel of more than 100 city experts.
A total of 44 different criteria were evaluated, including food, nightlife, affordability and cultural offerings.

Scoring well across categories, Cape Town cemented its status as a world-class city worth visiting and residing in.

According to Grace Beard, Travel Editor at Time Out, the annual list of Best Cities in the World currently proves that if you want to know what makes a city truly great, it is best to ask a local.
Cape Town was described as a beautiful city that makes people happy. It excelled in multiple categories including liveability, natural beauty and cultural offerings. This effortlessly makes it a standout choice for 2025.
