The once iconic The Protea Hotel by Marriott Victoria Junction will no longer be opening its doors to prospective guests and travellers. The hotel, managed by Marriot International, has been claimed back by the property owners, HPF Properties and handed over to Tsogo Sun (also owned by HPF Properties), reports Fin24.
Tourist-dependant cities like Cape Town have suffered heavy blows over the past two years at the hands of Covid-induced flight restrictions, stringent safety measures deterring visitors and strict regulations like curfews in all social environments.
It is rumoured that Tsogo Sun will reopen the Victoria Junction in the future.
