Local airline CemAir aims to secure a stronghold in the mainstream commercial aviation industry by increasing operations by 50%.
The airline is buying three more Airbus A319 aircraft and has applied for approvals to fly to six more destinations in Africa, according to Business Tech.
CemAir currently flies between Johannesburg, Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein, Hoedspruit, Plettenberg Bay, Margate, George and Kimberley.
Its current fleet consists of the following aircraft:
- Mitsubishi CRJ-900
- Mitsubishi CRJ-100/200
- De Havilland Dash 8-400
- De Havilland Dash 8-Q300
- De Havilland Dash 8-100
- Beechcraft 1900D
CemAir also leases aircraft and offer charter services to remote locations. ‘CemAir offers humanitarian organisations and resource companies a transport solution in these difficult environments that allows them to get their work done safely and quickly. Our goal is to be the service provider of choice for organisations that require the highest levels of quality and service,’ the airline says.
The airline expanded its reach during lockdown when it operated a number of repatriation flights. It was one of the first airlines to resume operations after the ban on interprovincial travel was lifted.
