China has dropped its travel restrictions despite high numbers of Covid infections in the country. Visitors no longer have to quarantine upon entering China as of 8 January 2023.
Government made the announcement on Monday, 26 December and within 30 minutes, online searches for outbound flights from China increased by 10 times, reports The Guardian.
Some nations are wary to receive visitors from the country. According to the South China Morning Post, Japan, the US and Italy are some of the countries that have instated Covid testing measures for arrivals from China.

However, some other countries are eager to welcome Chinese tourists again and have launched campaigns to lure visitors. Spain, France, Norway and Austria are some of the nations that have launched tourism campaigns directed at Chinese travellers, with slogans on social media reading they are “ready to welcome our friends from China”.
China recorded 423 130 Covid cases as on 30 December.
