There’s been a surge in solo travelling around the world, and tour Company, Explore! analysed 24 months’ worth of Google data to find out solo travellers’ top destinations.
Many people are preferring to pack their bags and head out on their own be it exploring markets in Thailand, backpacking Vietnam or finding solace in nature.

With many people going online in search of inspiration, Explore! 4 months’ worth of Google data to find out which destinations around the world solo travellers are getting more interested in.
The top 7 cities were all in Asia, with not a single African city cutting the top 20.
Top Trending Cities Worldwide for Solo Travel
1. Hanoi, Vietnam

The capital city of Vietnam, Hanoi is known for being a vibrant city with busy and colourful streets plenty of markets and cafes and great food at local restaurants.
2. Bangkok, Thailand

From incredible temples, historical architecture and delicious Thai cuisine, there were 5 300 Google searches made for ‘Bangkok solo travel’ in the past 12 months.
3. Tapei, Taiwan
A bit of a foodie destination, Taipei is home to 175 recommendations on the Michelin Guide list as well as a base to explore the nature destinations in Taiwan.
4. Seoul, South Korea
The Capital of South Korea shot up in popularity for solo exploration, with over 3 600 annual searches last year compared to 570 searches the previous year. From street food to street wandering, Seoul seems to be a trending destination for solo travellers
5. Phnom Penh, Cambodia
