The airport mega-city will incorporate elements of Ethiopian heritage in its design while focusing on sustainability and future-readiness.
The first phase of the project aims to handle 60 million passengers per year.
Key features include:
- A 1.1 million sqm terminal
- 126,190 sqm of airline support facilities
- Over 100,000 sqm for cargo and airport support
- Four runways
The estimated cost for phase one of the mega-city airport development stands at US$6 billion.
This development is part of Ethiopian Airlines’ Vision 2035 strategy, aiming to position the company among the world’s top 20 most competitive aviation groups.
