Ethiopian Airlines has announced the commencement of an interline agreement with South African airline Airlink. Such an arrangement is a commercial contract between independent airlines to accommodate passengers with multiple flights to different destinations offered by the involved airlines.
‘As South Africa represents the continent’s largest market and with the significant changes in the region’s industry players, implementation of this interline agreement will create ease of access to those travelling to/from South African regional airports and Ethiopian destinations across five continents,’ said Tewolde Gebremariam, Group CEO, Ethiopian Airlines in a statement.
Several airlines participate in interline agreements. Earlier this year, Ethiopian Airlines also signed an interline agreement with CemAir.
Airlink has also signed with Lufthansa and Swiss Air in January.
