According to a statement released by the reserve, a staff member named Kabelo Botha Mashao lost his life due to a fatal encounter with an elephant brought into Inverdoorn about 15 years ago.
The circumstances surrounding the event are currently unclear.
Inverdoorn Private Game Reserve has expressed condolences and is working with relevant authorities to investigate the incident. ‘Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Mashao family, his friends and colleagues during this difficult time.
‘We are supporting our staff and all those affected by this tragic event. Our topmost priority is the safety and well-being of our staff, guests, and wildlife.’
