SA low-cost carrier FlySafair is set to expand its regional footprint with the launch of a new international route connecting Cape Town to Windhoek, Namibia.
The twice-weekly service, scheduled to commence on October 22, 2024, marks the airline’s first regional route out of Cape Town.
The addition of a new aircraft based in Cape Town has made the expansion possible, allowing FlySafair to offer competitive fares on the route, says FlySafair Chief Marketing Officer, Kirby Gordon, as per Business Tech.
The Cape Town to Windhoek service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays, with flights departing Cape Town at 11:00 and arriving in Windhoek at 13:05.
The return leg will leave Windhoek at 14:05, touching down in Cape Town at 16:15. FlySafair will utilise a Boeing 737 aircraft for these flights.
Ticket prices for the new route will start at R1,800, making it an attractive option for various traveller segments.
The timing of the launch is strategic, coming just ahead of the summer holiday season. The new service is expected to cater to international tourists using Cape Town as a starting point for exploring other African destinations.
FlySafair’s recent expansion also includes new domestic routes to Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport from both Cape Town and Johannesburg.
