There’s a bar in London looking for a willing person to travel the world “in 80 days or less” and drink gin. All expenses paid – and the best part is that you get to take a friend.
The Inception Group owns a number of a restaurants, bars and clubs in London, including Mr Fogg’s bar and according to the Evening Standard, “the Mr Fogg’s team are offering someone the chance to travel around the globe with a friend tasting gins and collecting botanicals. The traveller will then bring back their findings to serve at the new Society of Exploration bar” . The new gin bar is set to open in Charing Cross – situated at a bustling intersection of streets just south of Trafalgar Square, London – in September.
The travellers will follow a route similar one to that taken by Phileas Fogg, the main character in Jules Verne’s famous book, Around the World in 80 Days (published in 1873) and will stop in Lisbon, Mumbai, Hong Kong, Tokyo, San Francisco and New York.
The winner and partner will be teamed up with Levison Wood – a modern-day explorer and adventurer who has walked the length of the Himalayas from Afghanistan to Bhutan and attempted to walk the full length of the Nile.

Whoever takes on the ‘job’ will need to document their trip by taking photos and posting videos to social media. Another requirement is that you have read Around the World in 80 Days, are ‘willing to clothe oneself in Victorian finery’ and are ‘talented in the art of written expression’.
The deadline is Monday, 26 August, so you’ll need to hurry if you want to apply.
