South Africans are advised to prepare for severe weather including a heatwave in several parts of the country over the weekend.
According to the South African Weather Service, extremely high fire danger conditions are expected over the central and eastern parts of the Northern Cape, the Free State, North West, northern interior of the Eastern Cape, Gauteng, central and western parts of Limpopo and the extreme western parts of Mpumalanga in the coming days.
A heatwave is expected in places over Mpumalanga and Limpopo until Saturday, excluding the Lowveld and escarpment areas of the two provinces. Extremely hot conditions are expected in places in the Lowveld of Mpumalanga and Limpopo on Saturday.
The Service also issued a Yellow Level 1 warning for damaging winds in the Gqabi DM and Chris Hani DM of the Eastern Cape, which might result in localized power and communication interruptions, localized damages to temporary structures as well as some disruptions to road transport.
