More heavy rainfall is expected to continue this week according to the South African Weather Service (SAWS). Provinces expecting continued rainfall and heavy downpours this week include KwaZulu Natal, North West, Limpopo, Mpumulanga, Gauteng, and northern Free State.
The rain is expected to continue until Sunday, 3 December, with a 30%-60% chance. In eastern Limpopo and the Lowveld of Mpumalanga, the chance of showers with a level 5 warning are at 80%, reports The Citizen, saying that ‘good rains can still be expected over the coming days in different parts of the country, but could not attach any possibility of severe thunderstorms, adding that the forecast will be updated when the need arises.’
Large parts of the country have experienced heavy rainfall in the last few weeks, resulting in ‘dams filling up to capacity and serious flooding in several parts,’ reports The Citizen.
SAWS warns of above-average rainfall over the Spring and Summer season.
